Hazel Brown

A funeral service for Hazel M. Brown, 80, will be Tuesday August 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Sonny Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery in Douglas, Texas.

Hazel passed with her family by her side on August 14, 2010 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mrs. Brown was born April 30, 1930 in Douglass, Texas to the late, Melvin Robert "Slim" Wise and Frankie Marie Wise (Milsap). She was a loving, caring, Christian woman of faith. Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and was known by her grandchildren as Nanny and Granny. She was a happy homemaker who loved raising her children up to know and love the Lord. She was associated with the Assembly of God Church, and when she was in her young twenties she was saved and baptized at the Goodman Bridge outside Douglass, Texas.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Brown of Nacogdoches, sister, Thelma Joe Yates of Liberty Hill, son, Steve Lee Brown and wife, Oleta Brown (Perry), daughter, Linda Marie Motherwell (Brown) and husband, Walter Motherwell, son, Samuel Wayne Brown and wife, Rose Brown (Purdy), son, Larry Lynn Brown all of Nacogdoches and ex-daughter-in-law Tonue Hathaway of Gilmer, Texas. She had nine grandchildren: Steven Daniel Brown and wife, Dusty, Perry Lee Brown and wife, Amber, of Nacogdoches, Edward Oliver Brown and wife, Sara, of Tyler, Texas, Jennifer Lee Lewis (Robinson) and husband, Chris, of Keller, Texas, Donna Gail Barrett (Brown) and husband, Nicholas, of Fort Hood, Texas, Samantha Jo Maberry (Brown) and husband Daniel of Gilmer, Texas, Bailey Lynn Brown, Sabrina Shea Brown of Houston, Texas. She had twelve great grand children: Stephanie Brown, Jesse Brown, Sarah Brown, Dean Brown of Nacogdoches, Jeremy Robinson of Central Heights, Brian Keith Robinson of Nacogdoches, Dawson Barrett, Dalton Barrett, Nikki Barrett of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Merrik Maberry of Gilmer, Texas.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Johnathon Keith Robinson of Nacogdoches.

Pallbearers will include: Larry Lynn Brown, Steven Daniel Brown, Perry Lee Brown, Edward Oliver Brown, Nicholas Barrett, Daniel Maberry, Timothy Yates, Jimmy Wayne Ragsdale. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Robinson and Brian Keith Robinson.
