Mr. Shoemaker was born May 11, 1927, in Lynndyl, Utah, to parents Robert Sylvester Valentine Shoemaker and Lena Mae Summers Shoemaker.
Harold loved hunting and fishing. He moved to Texas several years as a ranch foreman and later began working as a machinist , serving as a plant superintendent a number of years before retiring. He also enjoyed making jerky and sharing it with family and friends.
His survivors include his wife, Doris Dees Shoemaker of Nacogdoches; his children, Norman Ray Shoemaker of Lufkin, Reeva Louise Brumley and husband Bruce of Lufkin, Clayton Thomas Shoemaker and wife Perri Ann of Boerne, David Duane Shoemaker of Nacogdoches, and Donald Lewis Shoemaker and wife Marcie of Nacogdoches; brothers, Robert Norman Shoemaker and wife Helen of Canon City, Colorado, and Myron Shoemaker and wife Julia of Carbondale, Colorado; grandchildren, Jay Shoemaker, Sandy Isget, Lance Brumley, Amber Brumley, Katherine Shoemaker, Ellen Shoemaker, Austin Shoemaker, Dustin Shoemaker, and Devin Shoemaker; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Todd Muckleroy officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2015, at the funeral home.
