Elizabeth Earline Shipley, 94, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Earline was born near Garrison, Texas, in the small community of Cedar Bluff. She graduated from Garrison High School in 1946. Immediately after high school, Earline married the love of her life, Billy Joe Shipley, who was a bricklayer, car enthusiast, and later a soldier in the Korean War.
Earline is survived by her only child, Joe David Shipley, and wife Terri, of Waco. Earline has a granddaughter, Robin Dulock and husband Eric, of Waco. She also has a granddaughter, Brooke Long and husband, Brandon, of Austin. Earline was also blessed with four beautiful great-granddaughters, Ava Elizabeth, Ella, Emma, and Aspen. Earline is survived by her loving sister, Virginia Reneau and husband Earl, of Nacogdoches.
Earline is preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Shipley, her parents, Jule and Belma Rambin, her brother Doyle Rambin, and her Sister, Pearl Meador.
Earline was a long-standing member of Perritt Memorial Methodist Church. She cherished her faith and held a never-ending love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was also actively involved in many community organizations, groups, and clubs. These included Altrusa Club of Nacogdoches, Business Professional Woman’s Club, and Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Chapter of Texas, where she was an honorary life-time member. Earline also very much enjoyed her Tuesday night dinner group with close friends.
Earline began her banking career in 1960 at Stone Fort Bank downtown, which is now called Regions Bank. She also worked at First Federal Savings and Loan. She “retired” in 2008, but that only lasted a weekend. Hearing that Earline was available, an acquaintance who worked at Citizens 1st Bank called her up and stated that the bank needed help. She retired from Regents on the last Friday of 2008 and began her new career at Citizens State Bank on the first Monday of 2009. Earline worked at the bank for 14 years up until the day she went to be with the Lord. Earline never met a stranger. Her joy and friendliness was larger than life. She was a “people person” and loved working with the public where she gained life-long friendships and impacted so many lives. In short, everyone loved her.
Earline is a life-long lover of country music and travel. This love began early in her marriage when she and Billy Joe would travel to Branson every October for the antique car shows. After his passing, she continued this tradition with her sister and brother-in-law to enjoy the sights and see the shows.
Funeral services will be held at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will proceed the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The private family interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.
