Dorothy Claire Shelton Morgan passed away on April 4, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born June 21,1931, at home, in Nacogdoches, to RH (Bob) and Mabel Morris Shelton. She was a life long resident of Nacogdoches. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1948 and from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1951, where her father, Bob Shelton was Dean of Men. Dorothy was married to Joel Edward (Ed) Morgan on September 1, 1951. She always said that was the only year he didn't go hunting on the opening day of dove season. They had known each other their whole lives and were married for 60 years.
No one was more welcoming than Dorothy, and many remembered good times spent with the Morgans. She always saw the funny side of life and shared her since of humor with all those around her. She had a way of making others feel loved and in turn people loved being around her. Dorothy was a very loyal friend and maintained many close relationships from childhood. She loved her Bridge club, Heritage Club, and the Methodist Church Circle. Dorothy was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured her family and created a home for all of them, that was always full of food, laughter and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mabel Shelton. Her husband, Ed, daughter, Ellen Morgan granddaughter, Ellen Jordan her sister Hazel Abernethy and brother-in-law Ab Abernethy.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Callie Morgan Bricker and husband Randy, Claire Morgan Jordan and husband Doug, Julie Morgan Taylor and husband Rick, son Ed Morgan Jr and wife Kristen.
Nine grand children, Jennifer Jordan, Morgan Jordan and wife Kristyn, Robbie Jordan and wife Emily, Caroline Jordan Horton and husband Blake, Shelton Taylor and fiance Zack Oliver, Grayson Taylor, Ian Morgan, Sam Morgan and Jed Morgan and ten great grandchildren. Extended family members, nephews and nieces Luanna, Robert, Deedy, Maggie, Ben, Steve and Wesley.
Special cousins Bob and Beverly Shelton of Buda,TX and Bob and Becky Shelton Burke of Dripping Springs, TX. Lifelong friend, Clara Jean Flemons. Special Caregivers: Kisha Sterns, Keleca Palmer and Jonnie Brunson.
Graveside service was held April 7, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
