A life-long resident of Nacogdoches, Mrs. Deason was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf, singing, and playing guitars. She loved to cook for her family and bake cakes, especially wedding cakes. She was strong in her faith and would often speak about the Bible and the Lord.
Donna was a generous, caring woman who would always make sure her family and guests were well fed. Her heart of gold led her to provide for others before providing for herself. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made Christmas and Thanksgiving a special event for her family. While working at nursing homes, she took great pride in making sure the residents were well taken care of.
Mrs. Deason was preceded in death by her father, Warner Scroggins; mother, Ellen Barnett; stepfather, Robert K. Barnett; brother, Doyle Scroggins; sister, Teresa Bryan; stepbrother, Mike Barnett; and aunt, Viola Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Deason; son, Bobby Deason and wife Theresa; daughter, Veronica Jernigan and husband Arthur; foster son, Billy Deason; foster son, Chris Ammons and wife Tricia; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with one more soon to be here; sisters, Nancy Hudgins and husband Bud and Vickie Wright; brothers, Blaine Scroggins and wife Dorothy and Dennis Scroggins; stepsister, Cheryl Russell and husband Ken; stepbrother, David Barnett; and stepdaughter-in-law, Becky Barnett.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with a Rosary Reading to begin at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by Reverend Monsignor James Young. Interment will follow at Moral Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bailey, Jr., Justin Bailey, Tim Bailey, William Linder, William Linder, Jr., and Jacob Deloney.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Deason’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
