Cody, born in Nacogdoches, attended Nacogdoches High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business. He never met a stranger and could always make people smile in spite of his hardships. Cody never gave up his fight with brain cancer and was even planning for Christmas presents and buying a new four-wheeler. Cody was a dedicated son, brother, and uncle. Cody was always on time, very dependable and loved to work. He loved music, playing guitar, playing washers with friends and eating Mexican food, especially Freebird’s. Cody played baseball in high school and enjoyed watching his nephew play ball regularly. Cody enjoyed expressing his opinions and wasn’t afraid to share them. He will be greatly missed but his family knows they will see him one day and they are glad that he is no longer suffering.
Cody is survived by his parents, Dena and Danny Lunsford and Terry and Debbie Collins; sisters, Candace Garcia and husband Joe of Nacogdoches and Sherry Grissom and husband Brad of The Colony; nieces and nephews, Hunter and Natalie Shafer and Grayson and Macy Grissom; step-brothers, Greg Lunsford and wife Lindsey, Dan Lunsford, and T.J. Garber and wife Amber, all of Nacogdoches; and step-sister, Christina Gomez of Nacogdoches.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Louise Moody; and paternal grandparents, Lester and Macie Collins.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
