Cheryl Lea Rogers, age 74, passed away, peacefully, Saturday, May 15, 2021. She was born June 2, 1946, to John C. Collins, Jr. and Wilma Matlock Collins, the 2nd eldest of 6 siblings, just 13 months after her sister, Janette. She attended NISD schools, graduating from NHS in 1964, and Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member. She enjoyed the outdoors and the holidays, with her family, and cooking. Cheryl married her school sweetheart, Harold Rogers, on Valentines Day, in February of 1976 and they celebrated 44 years before he passed away, in December 2020. She worked in the Stock Room of Mize Mfg for many years, then worked as the Payroll Clerk for the University Police Department at Stephen F. Austin State University.
It was clear to anyone, who knew her, that Cheryl felt her greatest accomplishment in Life, was the blessing of the birth of her son, Jody; and then, her grandsons and Marlee! She became the classic, doting, Meme, who cherished every moment of time spent with her son and the grands! She is truly loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her!
Surviving Cheryl, is her son, Jody Edward Goldsberry (Mary Ellen); grandsons, Jackson Chance Goldsberry(Whitney), Brandon Thomas Goldsberry, Cameron Edward Goldsberry(Renee); great-granddaughter, Marlee Chance Goldsberry; brother, Jacky Collins(Regina); and sister, Bobbie Collins Lesley as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition, she is survived by aunt, Patty Collins; brothers-in-law, Perry Rogers (Betty), Jerry Armstrong(Joy), and Johnny Lesley; sisters-in-law, Doris Cloudy Chumley(Spencer), Cynthia Still Farr(Wyman), Angi Jackson Collins and Ginger Ables Poskey.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, John C. and Wilma Matlock Collins; husband, Harold Wayne Rogers; sister, Janette Collins Sowell and brother-in-law, Roy Sowell; brothers, Gary Collins and Jerry Collins; as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Irena Waggoner Rogers.
A visitation for Cheryl will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home officiated by Bro. Tim Brewer. Interment will be at Harmony Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Goldsberry, Cameron Goldsberry, Brian Sowell, Robert Fuchsberger, Brad Petty, and John Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harmony Cemetery Association (c/o Jon Pitts * 17617 N. US Hwy 59, Garrison, TX, 75946) or the charity of your choice, in Cheryl's memory.
