Anne C. Pettit of Nacogdoches passed away February 24, 2020, in Nacogdoches at the age of 81. She was born April 16, 1938, in Camden, Texas to parents Ben J. Cadenhead, Jr. and Eleanor Lois (Jarrett) Cadenhead.
Anne and her late husband, Bill, settled in Nacogdoches County in 1971 to raise their family in the Appleby area. Anne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches and served in several other women’s service groups. She worked at Southwestern Bell, then First Federal Savings and Loan, before later joining Citizens 1st Bank. She worked there until her passing, and she was their longest tenured employee serving proudly for 29 years. She even earned the nickname “Big Money” from her colleagues and friends at work. A “people-person” by nature, Anne would often remember the small details about the people she got to know, forming lasting friendships. She always had time for other people. Many of those people returned the favor by spending time with her in her time of need when in the nursing home.
Mrs. Pettit was a loyal friend, hard-worker and a fantastic cook. When you entered her home the first question she asked was, “Are you hungry?” She would generously feed everybody she could. She was also generous with her time and love. She was best known as “Gigi” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her unofficially adopted grandchildren, Leila and Ethan Lucana.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Pettit; son, Joe Bill Pettit; and grandson, Andrew Pettit German.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy German of Nacogdoches; grandsons, Justin German and wife June of Baltimore, Maryland, Lucas German of Sedro Woolley, Washington, and Joe German of Sedro Woolley, Washington; great-granddaughters, Maddie German and Scarlett German, both of Baltimore, Maryland; great-grandson, Waylon German of Sedro Woolley, Washington; brothers, Charles Cadenhead and wife Sherry of Irving, Texas, and B.J. Cadenhead of Snellville, Georgia; cousins, Jim Love and wife Judy of Beaumont, Texas, and Linda Alexander and husband Mike of Coppell, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
