

Verna Tyler, age 77 of Muskegon, passed away Friday July 4, 2014 at her home. Verna was an excellent cook, and enjoyed reading cookbooks and creating recipes, including her very special pizza recipe! She worked with many local businesses over the years, including Big John’s Pizza, and even owned her own restaurants for a time, JT’s and Deano’s Pizza. In her later years, she worked at the YMCA, where she prepared meals for the children’s program. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and the local VFW. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Earl Tyler, in 2007. Verna is survived by her children: Eric (Kathleen) Tyler, Paulette (Robert) Bosch, Jeri Lynn (Jeffrey Blakely) Tyler, Julie (David) Smith; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Nancy Long, Patricia Borema; Brothers and sister-in-law: John (Patty) Tyler, Dennis (Peg) Tyler, Kay Blakely; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2160 Crozier Ave in Muskegon at 11:00am. A time of visitation will be held one hour before services. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church. Inurnment will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
