Roger Alan Hunter, 70, of Muskegon passed away unexpectedly, December 20, 2023. Roger was born July 10, 1953, to Timothy and Carma (Hice) Hunter. On August 11, 1979, he married Ann (Wierengo) who survives him along with his son, Shawn, daughter Theresa (Dan) Kammers, grandchildren Isabella, Bianca and Nick (Emily), brother Tim (Becky), also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He went to Muskegon schools and graduated from Reeths Puffer in 1971. Immediately after graduating he thumbed his way across the states to California and took a flight to Hawaii to spend the rest of his life there, but five days later he became homesick and flew home. He held many titles for jobs from short-order cook, to selling life insurance, delivering pop for Canada Dry, and a dispatcher for R&S Trucking, Foreway Transportation and D&D. Anybody that knew him knew that he had a great sense of humor and could crack a joke with the best of them. On the weekends you could find him out with his wife going to garage sales. Once a year for a week he loved to go up north to a cabin on Pettibone to fish for bass using his special hula-popper(s). At holiday time you could find him perfecting his recipe for his pancakes and gravy for family gatherings. He was also a prolific bowler in the late 70's and 80's, teaching the game to his wife and children and the legacy continues through his granddaughters Isabella and Bianca.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Timothy and Carma) and two brothers (Ryan, and Thomas).
Upon his request a private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers to remember Roger, please consider a donation in his name to the American Heart Association.
