Raymond Dale Carr, Sr., age 72, passed away on August 24, 2014. Raymond was born on March 27, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. He was adopted as an infant by John and Ruth Carr and grew up in Sturgis, Michigan. In 1957, he met the love of his life, Pasty Carr, and they wed in Muskegon on April 21, 1962. Raymond worked as a tool and die maker and machine repair in 1962 until 1980 for Standard Automotive Parts Company, 1980-1995 for Shaw Walker/Knoll Group, 1995-2005 for Shape Corporation, where he retired from. Raymond enjoyed many hobbies such as: fishing, hunting, photography, travel and music. He played several musical instruments. He was very well respected and like by everyone, especially the local country music community. Raymond was smart and quick witted, with a great sense of humor. He had a bad heart, and in November 2013, he had a L-Vad Pump placed in his chest to help his heart pump blood. Late spring 2014, he got pneumonia and never fully recovered. He was in and out of the hospital, several times this year. Raymond will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Carr; son, Raymond (Jay) Carr, Jr.; stepsons: Brose (Sophia) Bates, Bryan (Mona) Bates; sister, Marjorie (Steve) Minnema; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Virginia Burns; parents: John and Ruth Carr; grandson, Bryan Bates, Jr. There will be a private family graveside service on September 4, 2014. A public memorial service will be help on Saturday, September 13, 2014 atom 1:00-5:00pm at Cowboy Jim’s Coin Shop on the corner of E. Broadway and Vulcan in Muskegon. Come celebrate his life with us!
