Mary Margaret Whitney

Mary Margaret Whitney was born in Howard City on July 6, 1933 to the late Ira and Wilma Cole. Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Darold Whitney; 3 children, Wayne (Phyllis) Whitney, Alan Whitney, Sr., Jeanna (Ted) Zabel; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Leo Bennett, Edna Rhoades, and Ardena (Dave) Enders; several special nieces and nephews. Family was most important to Mary. She was a member of the Lakeshore Carvers, she was an avid bird watcher who enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, camping and nature. Mary worked for 14 years at the Apple Ave. K-Mart. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Mary attended Orchard View Congregational Church, 2175 Marquette Ave., where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Rev. Tom Beetham and Rev. Bill Randall officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to VNS Hospice.
