He was the son of Orville and Beverly Woodring and the younger brother of Mike “Wichita” Woodring. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 19, 2023, after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marty Halliday and two furry pups, Spike and Roxie.
Woody grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan, and spent most of his life close to Lake Michigan. He was an excellent swimmer who, during his time in the Navy, assisted with astronaut rescue training in Florida. He also honorably served his country in Vietnam. After his discharge, he worked as a printer at Muskegon Paper Box and later in construction.
Woody had a lifelong love of the outdoors and any dog ever created. A keen observer of wildlife, he loved sharing hunting and fishing experiences with his many friends. He also enjoyed hiking many trails in Michigan, especially near Muskegon State Park.
His other passions were riding his Harley Davidson and totally restoring his 1966 Chevelle. He spent many happy hours cruising and listening to 60’s music.
A celebration of Woody’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 4, 2023 at the Don Rea VFW #8846, 1061 Witham Dr, Muskegon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to a local humane society would be welcomed.
