Born in Downers Grove, IL to Rudolph and Anna (Carlson) Eichorst on February 28, 1913 and passed away on to the heavenly garden on November 25, 2012. Helen was a past president of the Muskegon County Women’s Garden Club and a lifetime member winning many ribbons and awards for her flower arrangements. She enjoyed the public and waitressed at a Miami Beach restaurant serving many celebrities during the war years. She later worked at Bill Sterns Steak House. In 1955 she and her husband Fred bought the first of three restaurants “Soyars Country House”. Later they partnered in the “Marsoy” Supper Club and in 1969 opened “The Cherokee”. She and Fred loved to travel and visit the many beautiful gardens across the United States. Helen also loved to knit, crochet and sew. She created many beautiful afghans that she gave to friends and family. Helen is survived by her son, Ted (Joanne) Bowman; five grandchildren, Terry (Debbie) Bowman, Jeffrey (Kim) Bowman, Vicki Vanoordt, Randy (Mary) Larkin and Kim (Paul) Watson; three great-grandchildren, Heidi (Chris) Griswold, Eric Bowman, Jay (Valerie) Richards; two great-great-grandchildren, Chloe and Jack Griswold. Also surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Urban and Gladys Martin along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Beverly Larkin; five brothers and one sister. There will be no visitation or service per her request. In her memory please plant a flower, tree or shrub. Cremation has taken place and she will be interred at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
