Gary “Skip” Meyer, age 55, of Holton passed away on February 29, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 7, 1956 in Grand Haven to June and Lewis (Lewie) Meyer Jr. Skip was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and watch the wildlife come up to the feeder in his backyard. His daily phone call to his mother to report the comings and goings of the wildlife was another love. Skip will be forever loved and missed by his mother, June, his four siblings, Jon (Jeanne) Meyer, of Grand Haven, Linda (Bob) Helder, of Spring Lake, Lori Meyer, of Spring Lake, Lisa (Robert) Frey, of Ferrysburg; two special nieces Sylvia and Gwen Meyer; his special friends, Mark and Judy Gould, of Twin Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewie. Skip will always be remembered for his love of family and friends, his generosity, his laugh and his great smile. A celebration of Skip’s live will take place Friday, March 9, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Road, North Muskegon. Friends are invited to gather with the family immediately following. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Skip may be given to the American Legion Charles Conklin Post #28, Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Mercy Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice.
