Ernest Olson

Ernest “Ole” Olson, of Norton Shores, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at age 90. Mr. Olson was born in Bridgeton, Michigan on March 22, 1923 to parents Ernest and Tressa (Bell) Olson. He attended Bridgeton and Stank Schools. He then worked on farms and then Sealed Power in Muskegon. Mr. Olson lived in Fruitport for many years, where he worked at Lappo Lumber for 34 years and retired in 1982. He married E. Elizabeth Beauchamp in 1984 and they lived in Norton Shores together. He enjoyed many activities such as hunting, fishing, and travelling. He especially liked taking his boat “Butterfly” out on Lake Michigan. Mr. Olson was always very eager to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He is survived by his two daughters: Sheryl (Bruce) Eldred of Cedar Springs, MI; Ruthann (Jack) Spencer of Jacksonville, FL; step-daughter, Lorrainne Zeller of Florida; step-son, Al (Margaret) Beauchamp, CA; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Myron (Jean) Olson of Ravenna, MI; several nieces and nephews; special friends Bob and Mary O’Connor of Norton Shores, MI; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Olson; son, Ernest William Olson; sisters: Elnora, Ardis, Audrey; brother, Elmer. A funeral service will take place at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 5:00pm. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
