Doris was born July 4, 1932, the daughter of William and Lillian Schooley. She married Lloyd Hoffmeyer in 1949 and together they enjoyed over 60 years of marriage until his death in 2013. She worked at Cole’s Bakery and later at Oakridge Schools driving school bus. She enjoyed bowling, camping, playing cards, and good polka music. The most important in her life was always her family. She was a patient, affectionate, giving, strong-will woman, who will be deeply missed.
Doris is survived by: her children, Beverly (Rick Smith) Jones, Linda (Wayne) McDonald, Vicki Cleveland, Sally Lodholtz, Patty (Dale) Bloomstrom, and Brenda (Ron) Hoogewind; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; brother, Daniel (Judy) Schooley; sisters, Sandra (Leon) Zaffer, Helen (Larry) Jenkins, Diane (Ken) Ketola; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; brother, Frank; sisters, Norma and Elaine; and son-in-law, Dean Lodholtz.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Cremation Chapel 1783 E Keating Avenue Muskegon. Visitation will take place on Friday from 6-8PM and also, 1 hour prior to the start of the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
