David Flores was born on October 20, 1948, in Alice, Texas, to Sixto and Magdalena (Treviño) Flores. He graduated from high school in Alice, Texas, in 1966 before moving to Holton, Michigan, where he built a life filled with hard work, family, and cherished memories. He dedicated over 47 years to his career in Howmet in Whitehall, Michigan, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
David was an avid outdoorsman who found true joy in nature. He had a passion for hunting and treasured the time he spent with his children, especially during hunting season. Whether he was kayaking, drifting on the water, or simply taking in the beauty of the outdoors, David embraced every moment in nature. Fall was his favorite season—he admired the changing colors of the leaves and eagerly anticipated the arrival of hunting season. In addition to his cherished Camaros, he had a deep affection for his cars. He took great joy in sharing them with every visitor, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to admire and appreciate his prized collection.
David had a deep affection for the stunning landscapes of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he shared countless cherished moments with his family. The joy he found in nature and the precious time spent with his loved ones will always hold a special place in our hearts, a lasting reminder of the love and connection he nurtured throughout his life. David was a caring and devoted family man, often described as the "glue" that held the family together. He was always ready with a word of advice, a listening ear, or a helping hand. David’s love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he treasured the time spent with them.
David is survived by his sons, Tony A. Flores and Damian (Lynn) Flores; siblings, Carrie (Jon) Hallock, Hilda Ortega, Ruben (Tina) Flores, and Joe (Nicole) Flores; grandchildren, Stephen Flores, Tharen D. Flores, David Flores, Daniel, Sadie, Anita, Amanda, Ruben Jr., and Cody; nieces Wendy, Danielle, Valerie, Nancy, Alison, Nicki, and Manual Jr.; as well as many great-grand nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
David is now reunited with his parents, wife, Karen Flores; daughter, Stephanie Flores; his brother, Sixto Flores Jr.; and his sister, Diane Evans.
A gathering to celebrate David’s life will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home. A service for family and friends to gather will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Carlos Ramos at the VFW, 1061 Witham Dr., Muskegon, Michigan 49445.
David will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and loved ones.
