Daniel R. Hartung, age 70, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012. Dan was born on April 25, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to the late Donald and Hazel Hartung. He was also preceded in death by a brother Donnie. He is survived by his wife Penny Hartung; stepson, Kevin Wootton; son Daniel (Judy) Hartung; grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Laura and Megan; a brother, James (Shirley) Hartung. Dan served as a Police Officer for over 25 years, first with the City of Norton Shores and retiring from the Muskegon County Sheriff Department. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Roosevelt Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or Harbor Hospice.
