Daniel Dale Aker, age 63, was born on October 18, 1948 and passed away on February 6, 2012. Daniel attended Mona Shores High School and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, earning several medals including two purple hearts. He was an avid golfer and baseball player. He loved taking his grandson to the park, fishing and golfing. Dan’s compassionate and gentle heart will be missed. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Glorian and Dale Norton, step, mother, Pat Aker; his son, Santana (Charlotte) Aker; grandchildren, Mingan, and Arie; stepchildren, Christine, Jean, Stephanie and Tammy; sisters, Dennise (Bruce Yonkers) Hines, Susan (David) Hodson, Janet (John) Austermiller, brother, Kelly (Gina) Norton, Dan (Debbie) Winsemius, Paul (Pat) Winsemius, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Aker; sisters, Darlene Kubicek and Diana Tiggelman; brother, Bruce Winsemius; and step-son, Louis “Bucky” Collins. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Michigan Vascular Research Fund, Gift and Records Administration, 3003 S. State St., Suite 8000, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109.
