Cozetta was born on March 3, 1947, in Forest City, Arkansas, to Lucille and Robert Fields. She graduated from Lincoln High School and continued her education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she obtained her dentistry certificate. In 1982, she married Loyde Henry Clayborn, and together they built a beautiful family.
Cozetta was an ordained minister, having been ordained by Pastor Hardy Johnson, Jr., and served as the pastor of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church until her passing. She was also a dedicated employee of St. Vincent de Paul, where she worked for many years managing customer service and workers, retiring in 2013.
The second child of nine, Cozetta leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Loyde Clayborn; daughter, Evette (Booker) Butler; and daughter, Bianca Clayborn. She was preceded in death by her son Damon Fields. She also leaves behind her brother, Larry (Shadonna) Dean of Kansas City, and her sisters, Linda Guy of Little Rock, Pat Wells, and Mary Robinson, both of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Additionally, she will be missed by her 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, as well as many other family members and friends who were touched by her kindness.
Her family expresses that while there are no words to fully convey the depth of their sorrow, the love and memories Cozetta created with each of them will live on forever. Cozetta's journey may have ended, but she did not leave us; she simply went home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E.
