March 1, 1944 – April 7, 2023
Julia “Judy” Ann Koch Fleming, 79, died April 7, 2023, at her home in Murrieta, California, surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer.
She was born March 1, 1944, in Marshall, Michigan, to William and Helen (Barnes) Koch. She spent her youth on the family farm in Albion, MI before moving to Marshall where she graduated from Marshall High School with the Class of 1962. On May 6, 1967, she married Terry L. Fleming Sr. of Tekonsha, Michigan. They relocated to California in 1968 and raised their family in La Mirada. They divorced after 18 years of marriage.
Judy was a registered nurse for over 25 years. She had taken a fifteen-year hiatus to stay home with her family to be a full-time mom. She returned to nursing and retired from PIH Health Whittier Hospital in 2009. In 2016, Judy moved to a retirement community, The Colony, in Murrieta, where she was a member of the Wine Club, enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with friends.
Judy cherished her family. She made holidays special by decorating her house and creating traditions and memories that will last forever. She was happiest when the entire family gathered for celebrations and summer barbecues, but mostly, she was a proud Grammy.
Surviving are daughters, Ann (Ralph) Berkessel of Chino, Patty Fleming of Jurupa Valley, her sons, Terry (Alyssa) Fleming Jr. of Murrieta, and Michael (Carrie) Fleming of Chino Hills; seven grandchildren; sister, Laura Buczynski of Marshall, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Koch, brothers William Koch Jr. and Lee Adam Koch.
