James A. Hovell

James Arthur Hovell passed away at the age of 84, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Murrieta, California. He was born to Chester Hovell and Margaret (Obersterbrink) Hovell, on Saturday, March 12, 1938, in Hackensack, New Jersey and he was one of 3 children. He proudly served for 9 1/2 years in the US Navy. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree and having attended a year of law school, he went on to become a successful Director of Information Technology for local government, as well as teaching at California Lutheran University in the adult degree program. While balancing his career, James was also an amazing husband and dedicated father. James was married for 58 wonderful years to the love of his life and his best friend, Francine Hovell. They were blessed with three children that would later make James a grandfather as well. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, walking his dog, and spending time with family and friends. James is survived by his loving wife, Francine Hovell; his children, Valerie (Rick) Owens, Kevin (Jennifer) Hovell, and Jennifer (Eric) Corbett; and grandchildren, Ryan Owens, Matt (Molly) Owens, Sean Owens, London Corbett, Judah Corbett, Michael Hovell and Joel Hovell.
