Barbara Lucile Erickson (Hicks), beautiful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on the morning of October 31, 2024, at the age of 96. she passed just 22 days shy of her 97th birthday. What a greeting she must have had from all those who have passed before her!
Barbara is survived by her daughter Claudia, five grandchildren: J.R, April, Crystal, lee and Kelly, and nine great grandchildren: Madison, Aaliyah, Tyrus, Logan, Brooklyn, Rayden, Kendrick, Vincent and Clara.
As a young adult Barbara was blessed with many friends. Pictures of trips to the mountains and beaches with her friends and family were fun to find as well as school play performances [she was an actress in college). She was very sociable and loved surrounding herself with people. She enjoyed being on stage and being the center of attention. Even at the age of 96 she hated to be caught without her face on. Magenta lipstick was her lip color of choice.
For most of her adult life, Barbara was a Homemaker. She was married to Marvin Erickson on April 22,1949. They were blessed with four beautiful children: Jack, Mark and twins, Clark and Claudia. Four children ages four, two and newborn twins. What a handful!
Mom was preceded in death by her youngest son, Clark in 2004, her oldest son, Jack in 2008, two months later her husband of almost 60 years, Marvin, also in 2008 and her middle son Mark in 2020. These were all great losses that she was able to survive with the love of all her farily and friends. Barbara was a very strong woman with her faith in God upholding her through all the years.
In 2019 Barbara broke her leg on the way to breakfast on the morning of her granddaughter April's wedding in Lake Tahoe. She never made it to the wedding! Fortunately, her daughter Claudia was able to move in with her and Mark in Apple Valley, Ca where she cared for her mom for a little over 5 years until she passed, Barbara never complained. She Just quietly enjoyed her days sitting in her recliner enjoying tv shows when she wasn't outside tending to her beautiful plants and flowers in the yard.
Barbara was the last of her generation to transition so I'm sure she had quite a fabulous reunion in Heaven with all her family and friends that had gone before her!
A Memorial service will be held. The date will be shared once arrangements have been
made.
