Sara Elizabeth Davis of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at home, surrounded by her family, at the age of 83. She was born in Lafayette, Tennessee to Joe and Stella Carter.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Stella Carter; her brother, J.C. Carter; and her daughter, Barbara Davis. She is survived by her sons, Joe (Tonya) Davis, Tim Davis; her daughters, Gina Guinn, Kim (Glenn) Nicholson, and Donica (Alan) Raiche; brothers, Paul (Joyce) Carter and Joe (Helga/dearest friend) Carter. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and another arriving in March, 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Sara retired from Sumner County Board of Education after a long career as a school bus driver. She continued to be a substitute driver in Rutherford County until she was 80. Family was most important to Sara, raising her children and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it was hosting family gatherings, attending their sporting events, or hosting the legendary Easter Egg Hunt, family was at the center of her attention. She loved the outdoors and spending time camping, hiking, kayaking, and fishing. Sara's dogs were very special to her. Penny, Koda, and Molly were her loyal companions for many years. Her love of travel took her on many family vacations to beaches and mountains and everywhere in between. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
