Patricia F. “Pat” Raymer, age 77, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. Pat was the wife of the late Ben L. Raymer and daughter of the late Frank L. and Ethel Baldwin Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Tracie Raymer.
She is survived by daughters, Sherrie Smith and her husband John of Smyrna, Debbie Jacobs and her husband Joey of Murfreesboro and Cathy Raymer of Smyrna; grandchildren, Elayne Smith of Murfreesboro, Jessica McKee and her husband Ryan of Murfreesboro, John Smith, Jr. and his wife Courtney of Smyrna, Christopher Raymer of Smyrna, Bethany Smith of McMinnville, Seth Parks of Murfreesboro and Emma Parks of Murfreesboro and eight great grandchildren. She is also loved and remembered by her sister, Agnes Noble of Smyrna; brother, Gilbert Henderson and wife Jean of Kingston Springs; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie Brothers and husband Bill of Springfield, Walter Raymer, Jr. and wife Sharon of Kentucky, Keith Raymer of Missouri, Iris Skinner and husband Rodney of Memphis, Maryanne Maulbeck of Smyrna and Bruce Noren of Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
After graduating from Central High School in Nashville, TN, Pat married Ben, the love of her life, on June 20, 1964. She courageously held everything together even having their first daughter while Ben served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. Married for 46 years, 17 home relocations due to Ben’s time with TVA, and many family road trip adventures, she had an unwavering loyalty and love for her family and her church. For many years she served as the teacher for the Joy Sunday school class at First Baptist in Smyrna, TN, as well as being a youth bible study teacher, Girls in Action leader, and a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN. After 32 years of service as an employee at Lifeway Christian Resources (Baptist Sunday School Board) she retired as supervisor of the Copy Center.
Pat was the kindest of souls always supporting her family in every way possible throughout her life. Her unwavering love, kindness, and generosity inspired many who met her, and her memory will be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 10 am-2 pm at Parkway Baptist Church, 1715 Lee Victory Parkway, Smyrna, TN 37167. Service to celebrate Pat will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Shelby Hazzard officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Pat’s name to the Parkway Baptist Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
