Melvin Carney Harris

Melvin Carney Harris, age 79, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Monday evening, October 10, 2022 at Adams Place in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mr. Harris was the son of the late Melvin Henry and Willie Mae Carney Harris. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Maclin. Carney is survived by his wife, Donna Collinson Harris; daughters, Elizabeth Bardowski and her husband Edward, Delann Dunbar and her husband Rob and Shana Stacey and her husband Shannon; son, Christopher Harris and his wife Katie; brother, Mike Harris and his wife Debbie; grandchildren, Logan Potts, Emma Potts, Abbi Harris, Coleman Stacey, Tanner Stacey, Micayla Hickman and Esther Dunbar. A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Harris will be at Three O’clock the afternoon of Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harris proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He also loved college football and had a number of teams he followed. He had many hobbies and interests. Among them were landscaping and raising flowers, golf and bowling. But he was most passionate about his family, loving and protecting his wife, being an example for his children and being a hero to his grandchildren.
