Mary K McConnon Dauenhauer Perez, aged 64, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Born in Newport News, VA she was the daughter of William Thomas and Margaret Mary (McFadden) McConnon. She is predeceased by her first husband David Elliott Dauenhauer and her second husband Emilio Jasso Perez. She is survived by her two sons, Jared David Dauenhauer (AlLee), and Brendan William Dauenhauer; stepson, Cristofer Jon Perez (Pam), grandchildren, Ava, Elijah, and Briggs Dauenhauer; John William Perez; brother; Larry McConnon, sister, Terri Costello (Paul), along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, and treasured friends.
Mary K graduated from St. Petersburg Catholic High School and the United States Air Force Academy. She went on to serve for 4 years in the Space Division at NASA Johnson Space Center as a Space Shuttle Flight Controller reaching the rank of Captain. However, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her role as a wife and mother.
Wintering in Texas and summering in Michigan, travelling in her RV, and taking international trips were a big part of her later life. She was dedicated to a variety of bible studies and was very active in her church life. Additionally, she enjoyed bike riding, gardening, scrapbooking, and was beginning to enjoy her new role as Nana, having just recently moved to Murfressboro, TN to be near her sons and grandchildren. Mary K was a woman of God and a beacon of light to many. She held firmly to her convictions and deep values like none other.
Private graveside services will be held in Poplarville, MS and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m. at The Light Church, 13145 Interstate 45 N, Willis, TX 77318.
