James Carl Simpson, age 86, of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday evening, November 16, 2014 at Stonecrest Medical Center. Mr. Simpson was the son of the late Carl Payton and Blanche Bell Simpson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elfi E. Gromball Simpson, who died in 1996. Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Maxine Hazelwood Simpson; daughters, Debby (John) Savage and Becky Cook; sons, James C. Simpson, Jr and Ronald (Sandra) Simpson; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at One o’clock the afternoon of Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Scott and Rev. John Dyson officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the US Air Force and accompanied by a Scottish Highlands Bagpiper. Mr. Simpson was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the US Air Force and had a great pride of and love for his country. After retiring from the military he was a District Automotive Manager for UPS. He was a member of Christ Church in Nashville and loved to travel the world. Along with traditional floral tributes, you may give a donation to the charity of your choice.
