James Thomas Helton

James Thomas Helton, age 73, of Smyrna passed away on Saturday January 28, 2017 in Smyrna. Mr. Helton was born in Maury County, TN on January 8, 1944 and was the son of Andrew Terry and Mary Josiephine King Helton. Mr. Helton is survived by his wife Joyce Helton; sons Robert and Tyler Helton; brother Kenneth Helton; daughter in law Tamela Helton ;granddaughters Anastasia Petty, Abigail Helton, and Debra Helton. James entered the United States Army and served from 1962-1968. He was a Vietnam Veteran. After returning to the states he enrolled at MTSU and received a degree in biology. He worked as a medical technologist at Rutherford County Hospital while working on a second degree in accounting. He then worked as a certified public accountant until retiring due to health reasons. Gravesides service to celebrate Mr. Helton will be at One o’clock the afternoon of Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in The Garden of Time at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro. Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mary King Helton, granddaughter Madaline Helton and his sisters Deborah and Barbara Helton.
