George Gregory Peters, Sr.

On Saturday, December 5, 2020, George Gregory Peters, Sr.,65, formerly of Manassas, VA passed away at home in Murfreesboro, TN surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1955 in Fauquier County, VA to the late James M. Peters and Charlotte E. Peters.

George was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle who adored spending time with his family. George was a member of Christian Life Church and a former long-time member of Living Faith Church, where he devoted many years as an usher. George’s unwavering faith in the Lord sustained him throughout his courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He loved to reminisce about the “good old days” and the years he spent working for Hertz Rental Cars and Skippy’s Trucking. Known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit, George could easily make friends out of strangers wherever he went. In his free time George enjoyed fishing, working on cars, building bird houses, and doing puzzles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Tammy, their sons George G. Peters Jr. of Front Royal, VA, Joshua M. Peters and wife Megan of Bealeton, VA, and Nathan E. Peters of Murfreesboro, TN, and daughter Lyschelle M. Mitchell of Falling Waters, WV, and grandchildren, Khaliyah Taylor, Elijah Goines, Lilianne Peters, Aden, Ethan and Cooper Peters. Seven brothers and sisters James Peters and wife Renee, Sheila Gale Barbour and husband Carl, Regina Peters, Marvin Peters, Charles Peters, John Peters and wife Anna, Philip Peters and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place at Christian Life Church, 745 Cason Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37128 on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Twelve O’clock noon with visitation also Friday morning from Eleven O’clock until the service begins at Twelve O’clock. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 5350 NW Broad St, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
