Milton “David” Reed Jr., age 77, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. He was surrounded by family and friends while at Maury Regional Medical Hospital.
David was born in Crowley, La., August 6, 1942, to the late Milton David Reed Sr. and Wanda Lee Miles Reed. He was also preceded in death by his adored wife of over 39 blessed years, Linda Henderson Reed. He is survived by his daughter, April Reed Smith and her husband Allen; son, Milton David Reed, III; former daughter-in-law, Christy Fontenot Reed; sister, Donna Reed Torres and her husband Murphy; grandchildren, Hunter, Katie and Tyler Smith and Austin Reed and his wife, Ashton; and numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
David was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund to care for local needs of the community.
David graduated from Baton Rouge High School and his strong work ethic led him to enlist in the Marine Corps. He was stationed in Camp Pendleton, California, and served in Okinawa, Japan, from 1961-1965.
Upon retirement David and Linda moved to Middle Tennessee in 2006 to be closer to family, and they quickly became beloved members of their community in Chapel Hill, TN. David could always be counted on for a quick joke, a hug, and a love for the children in the town and church. David will be fondly remembered, and his legacy of selflessness and love will be carried on in the lives he touched.
You are cordially invited to visitation beginning at Twelve O’clock Monday afternoon, July 6, 2020, until Two O’clock at Roselawn Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will begin at Two O’clock with placement to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
