Betty Joyce Brainard

Betty Joyce “Mamaw” Brainard, at 70, of Smyrna, passed away the afternoon of Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Thomas Rutherford. Joyce was born in Sunbright, TN to Pearl Christeen and Oscar Thomas Phipps. She is survived by her husband, Bill Brainard; daughters, Kristy Welchance, Angela (Steven) Crain, Patricia Staples and Natalie Gibson; son, Scott Brainard; sisters, Freddie Goad, Sue Knight, Jeanie Simmons and Jenell Cherry; grandchildren, Stephanie Welchance, Nicole Welchance, Kaitlyn Hardy, Alyssa Crain and Trebor Brown; great grandchildren, Issac and Lucas; and also by her faithful and loving dog, BooBoo. Services to celebrate Joyce will be at Three O’clock the afternoon of Friday, April 1, 2016 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Lenny Farmer officiating. Placement will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Steven Crain, Terry Carver, Jr., Colt Carver, Zach Mahoney, Kenny Knight and Timmy Knight. Joyce was formerly a group leader at Honeywell (Heatcraft). Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Friends are cordially invited to visitation Friday afternoon from One o’clock until service time.
