He was born Wednesday, October 15, 1952, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Glen C. and Wilma (Sutton) Wayt. Bud loved his Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed playing the flat top guitar in several Southern gospel groups over the years. Most notable he played with A New Creation. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. Bud devoted his time as a First Responder with the Jackson County Freetown Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time he liked working with stained glass, weaving, singing, and playing music. Bud worked in Industrial Maintenance with Arvin’s for sixteen years and at Instant Products and retired from Silgan Plastics.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, and the love of his life, Melanie (McCarter) Wayt; his children, Rachael (David Johnson) Lee, Casey (Bobbie Pike) Wayt, Katie (wife, Alana) Wayt, and Karly Wayt; grandchildren, Nick Lee, Cora Johnson, Aidan Wayt, Sophie Wayt, Deacon Wayt, and Tripp Wayt; brother, Larry Dean (wife, Glenda) Wayt; mother-in-law, Minnie Pfaffenberger; several aunts; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi Jo Wayt; a grand-daughter, Becca Lee; his father, Glen C. Wayt; his mother, Wilma (Sutton) Ping; step-father, Bryce Ping; father-in-law, Milton McCarter; and his step-father-in-law, Robert Pfaffenberger.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow services.
