Walter R. Howell Jr.

He was born Sunday, February 22, 1931, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Walter R. and Mabel F. (Richardson) Howell. Walter grew up in the Portland area where he farmed and later worked as a draftsman. He never met a stranger and always had a joke for you. Walter enjoyed going to flea markets and meeting his buddies at Burger King for a coffee. He retired from Overmyer Mould Company as a draftsman. Walter was a member of the Meeker Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughters, Belinda Myers, Becky Howell, Connie (husband, Gary) Oyler, and Karen Corder; sister, Esther Barton; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; and many, many, friends and his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mabel Howell; his wife of sixty-five years, Patricia Howell; four brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Meeker Avenue Church of Christ, 3109 South Meeker Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47302 with Minister Jim Crall officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Daleville.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Meeker Avenue Church of Christ.

His arrangements have been entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
