She was born Monday, October 26, 1942 in Anderson, South Carolina, the daughter of William and Hazel Lankford. Sylvia married Audie Posey on March 26, 1993, and shared twenty-six beautiful years together. She retired from Westminster Village as a QMA, after devoting her career to helping care for others. She regularly attended church until she fell ill. In her free time, she enjoyed being in the great outdoors, hiking and camping, as well as spending time with her family, and playing cards. She liked to listen to country music and was an avid animal lover who was devoted to her cat, Baby.
Survivors include her sister, Carol (Frank) Kern; nieces, Tina (Scott) Hollowell and Kathy (Ray) Romero; and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved furry companion, Baby.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, William Delmar; parents, William and Hazel Lankford; sister, Sonya Ann Sweeten; brother-in-law, Dennis Sweeten; niece, Julia McCarty; and nephew, Dennis R. Sweeten.
Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sylvia’s name may be sent to the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF), 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303.
