She was born Monday, January 21, 1946, in Muncie, the daughter of Dewayne “Duke” and June (Hier) McGill. Sharon loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Muncie where she enjoyed working in children’s ministry and cooking for Wednesday night services and funeral meals. Sharon was an avid Elvis fan, was always ready to play Euchre and “Hand and Foot” card game with family and friends, and she devoted time to Motivate our Minds.
Survivors include her husband of forty three years, Vernon Lee Jackson; daughter, Leslie Pannell; sons, Brian (wife, Angie) Smith, Michael (wife, Kim) Smith, Nicholas (wife, NaShica) Jackson, Richard (wife, Maria) Jackson, and Vernon (wife, Trina) Turner; brothers, Bruce McGill, and Pete (wife, Peggy) Dick; sisters, Martha Jo Smith, and Beth (husband, Corey) Sharp; daughter-in-law, Dawn Smith; several sisters-in-law including, Betty McGill; several brothers-in-law; longtime best friend, Mary Sones; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Her father, Dewayne “Duke” McGill; mother, June Dick; stepfather, Wayne Dick; son, Scott Smith; grandson, David Smith, and a nephew, Geoffrey McGill, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, 309 East Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana 47305 with Pastor Doug Gregg officiating.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions in memory of Sharon may be sent to the First Baptist Church.
