Robert W. Cheek

Robert W. Cheek, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Bethel Pointe Health & Rehab in Muncie, Indiana. Born in Portland, Indiana on November 8, 1947; he was a son to the late Wayne and Mary Jane (Miles) Cheek.

Bob courageously served our country in the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic for six years and United States Navy as an electrician for 16 years, where he would later retire as an AE6. Bob also worked at Haynes International in Kokomo, Indiana and Red Gold in Elwood, Indiana prior to his retirement.

Bob enjoyed meeting new people and enjoyed life. He was known for never having met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation. He loved spending time with his grandsons (of whom he was especially proud of) and would have celebrated his 57th year of marriage to his loving and devoted wife Dorelle in May 2025. Bob's hobbies included working on his 1979 Chevy Scottsdale truck, woodworking, building models, and watching old cowboy movies.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorelle Lynne Cheek of Alexandria; a daughter, Shannon M. Cheek of Indianapolis; a son, Patrick W. (Tonya) Cheek of Muncie; two grandsons, Lucas, and Jacob; a stepmother-In Law, Julia Cheek; four brothers, Richard, Jerry, Stan, and Joe; two sisters-in-law, Val, and Lou; several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carl.

A public visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Elm Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, with a memorial service starting promptly at 2:00 PM.

A private family burial at Marion National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
