Richard Owen Parker

Richard “Dick” O. Parker, 82, Muncie, passed away Sunday evening, April 7, 2024, at Signature Health Care.
He was born Friday, November 14, 1941, in Eaton, Indiana, the son of Thurman O. and Margaret L. (Stettler) Parker. Dick loved to go hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling. Dick worked at a Journeyman Welder for Westinghouse from 1965 until 1982 and at the Muncie Sanitary District from 1982 until he retired in 2007. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Reel) Parker; son, Richard O. Parker Jr.; daughters, Peggy Christian, and Nancy Dousa; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Bragg, Tiffany (James) Nixon, Joshua (McKenzie Noel) Christian, Tony (Tim) Anis, and Owen Parker; great-grandchildren, Arianna, Noah, Jaydlynn, Gracie, Chloe, Rhylynn, Kayden, and Ellie; brothers, David Parker, and Harold Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman O. and Margaret L. Parker; granddaughter, Terri Christian; brothers, Dale Parker, and Donald Parker; sister, Carol Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Cornerstone Community Church, 3000 South Jefferson Street, Muncie, Indiana 47302 with Pastor Chris Hood officiating.
Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Private family interment will be held at a later date at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
