James Richard Estep

James Richard “Dick” Estep, 93, Yorktown, passed away Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born Friday, October 18, 1929, in Yorktown, the son of William and Mildred (Walker) Estep. Dick loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Cubs, the Reds, the Colts, and I U and Purdue basketball. Dick liked playing golf and reading. His memberships include the Vermillion Christian Church, where he was known as Uncle Dick, and the Daleville Masonic Lodge. Dick was a man with a great work ethic. He worked at Warner Gear for over forty years and retired in 1989. Dick honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise M.(husband, Michael) Church; two sons, James R. (wife, Toni) Estep Jr., and Dennis J. Estep; three grandchildren, J.R. Estep, Amy Estep, and Nicholas Church; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Estep, Connor Estep, and Ciara Estep; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, William and Mildred (Walker) Estep; his wife of over fifty years, Clara Belle Estep, who passed away on November 15, 2011; and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Paul Werling officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
