Gerald E. Jones

He was born Thursday, September 30, 1937, in Muncie, the son of Floyd and Pearl (Auker) Jones. Gene loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going to car shows and was proud of his ‘56 Ford Victoria. Gene’s favorite pastimes included golfing and playing cards. He also enjoyed camping and traveling the country in their motor home. Gene served on the Muncie Reserve Police Department. He retired as a mechanic for Colonial Baking Company. Gene was a member of the East Jackson Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Marie (Burtner) Jones; daughter, Jo Ellen (husband, Joseph) Plowdrey; son, Charles E. (wife, Tamra) Jones; nine grandchildren, Marcie (husband, Joseph) Snider, Jillian (husband, Mark) Schuring, Laura (husband, Thomas) Atkins, Nickelle (husband, Craig) Nelson, Steven Jones, Andrew Plowdrey, Joseph A. Plowdrey, Christopher Jones, and Monica (husband, Andrew) Harvey; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Noble; two brothers, Rodney (wife, Sandy) Jones, and Bruce (wife, Karicia) Jones; two daughters-in-law, Martha Jones and Kim Jones; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd Jones and Pearl Forrest; and two sons, Charles William Jones, and Kelly Gene Jones.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Harold Goodpaster officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
