David Lee True

He was born on Wednesday, July 23, 1952, the son of Lee and Phyllis (Qualkinbush) True. David was a 1970 high school graduate of Muncie Central High School. He enlisted in the Army in the 1970’s, and was stationed in West Berlin, Germany. David worked with the heavy cannons and artillery, parachuted from airplanes, and even acted in skits to entertain the troops. He went skiing once with the Norwegian Olympic Team when they were nearby.

David lived in Muncie most of his life and was a salesperson at Knapp Supply for a while. He liked fishing and camping, working crossword puzzles, and watching old Westerns on television with his dad. He used to play the saxophone and other instruments. David’s favorite holiday was Christmas.

David is survived by his son, David A. “Alex” True from League City, Texas; his father, Lee True of Muncie; and his sister, Teresa (John) Gregory of Muncie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis True.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Pastor Steve Graves will officiate. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
