In his early years, Claude would ride his bicycle to Anderson to sell “Grit” papers to make some extra money. Later on, he worked at Borg Warner for 30 years before his retirement. In his free time, Claude loved to play Bluegrass music and was well versed on the banjo, guitar and mandolin; he even played in a band for a few years. Claude married the love of his life, Junie Stephens, and they shared fifty-six beautiful years before her passing. Together, they would drive their motorhome to Arizona to spend their winters before returning back to Indiana in the springtime.
Claude is survived by fourteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his wife, Junie Beaty; his parents; brothers, Halton, Earnest, Bill and Arel; sister, Lela; and his furry companion, Chelsea.
His family would like to give special thanks to Claude’s neighbors, Charlie and Barbara Palmier, and Johnny and Ruth McCool for their friendship and help provided over the years.
Visitation will be 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.
