Charles was born Sunday, November 11, 1934, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the son of Carson E. and Mary E. Garrett. His family moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1940. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963.
He retired from GM after forty-five years of service and was a member of UAW local 499.
He is survived by his children, Stephen (Patricia), Donna Acres (Lee) and Dan (Michelle); six grandchildren; Melinda Swift (Brian), Krysta Landreth (Randy), Kaylee Acres (Drew), Stephanie Guffey ( Drew) Jennifer Lightfoot ( Dustin), and Kyle Acres; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett, Brinley and Coulter, Addyson, Kaydence , Kallie, and Della; sister, Rozell Lephart; brothers, Glen (Pat), Larry and Rick (Carolyn); sisters in-law, Ann Smith (Estel), Julie Mesalsm ( Richard), and Deloris Roback (Phil); brother-in-law, Frank J Reynolds( Eula); several nieces and nephews.
His loving wife of forty-four years, Janice (Reynolds) Garrett; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
