She was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on June 16, 1927 to Edd and Pearline Sharp. Betty attended school in Walnut Ridge. She worked at Dodd’s Ice Cream Parlor, was an usherette at Shrum’s theatre, and then at Faircloth’s Medical Clinic before moving to Anderson, IN in 1946. Betty married J. C Kellow February 4, 1947, and they were married for 62 years prior to J. C.’s death in 2009. She also resided in Yorktown, Muncie, and Daleville, IN. Betty retired in 1985 from Guide Lamp, Anderson, IN after 36 years of employment. She was baptized at the age of 13 and was a member of the West Side Church of Christ, Yorktown, IN. Betty enjoyed the simple things in life such as gardening, cooking, and traveling, but her greatest joy was in spending time with her immediate and extended family. Her home, fondly referred to as “the farm”, was the hub of family gatherings for 53 years, and her children and grandchildren were the recipients of unconditional love.
She is survived by her children, Jay Kellow, Daleville, IN, Teresa Kellow Cox (Rick), Muncie, IN, and Greg Kellow (Dana), Anderson, IN; 11 grandchildren: Barry Shane Snyder, Ian L. Kindred, Adrian J. Cox, Meredith Light, Ryan Cox, Morgan Adams, Zachary Cox, Grant Kellow, Jocelyn Hickle, Keely Helsell, and Chelsea Bauer; 30 great-grandchildren: Landon, Alex, Mitchell, Campbell, Elliott, Caleb, and Joel Light, Mia, Whitt, and Austin Adams, Dakota Kidd, Kaitlyn, Connor, Alexandria, Haydon and Makayla Kindred, Mack and Ava Fallon, Gabriel, Zoe, Luke, Colin, Catarina, and Corinne Cox, Rylend, Oaklyn, and Wynonna Hickle, Tristan Kellow, and Chevy and Kinley Helsell; and, one great-great granddaughter: Maevelynne Sheppard. Other survivors include her brother, James Donald Sharp, Murphreesboro, TN, son-in-law, Richard Glackin, a cousin, Snoda Berry, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Kellow, daughter, Deniece Glackin, great grandson, Gage Helsell, parents, Edd and Pearline (Daufain) Sharp, siblings, Bobby E. Sharp, Marcia C. Reed, David E. Sharp, and Richard A. Sharp, grandparents, Jacob Jasper, Jr. and Laura Charlotte (Long) Sharp, and John and Cora (McMillon) Daufain.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
