Betty D. Bailey, (AKA Boots, Betsy, Gertrude, Mom and Mammal) passed away August 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 92 and led a very blessed, independent life. For those that knew her she left a memorable impression and will be remembered by all. She was born in Muncie, Indiana on October 11, 1931, the daughter of Ernest A. and Pearl F. (Flatter) Holdcraft.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Muncie, graduated from Muncie Central High School, attended High Street Methodist Church, Muncie Moose Lodge 33 and Muncie Elks Lodge 245. Throughout her life you could find her gardening, cooking, at exercise class, dancing, working at Vogue Cleaners , Willowbrook Interiors, and volunteering at Ball Memorial Hospital, Cornerstone Center for the Arts, or the soup kitchen. Her favorite times were vacationing with family at the beach in North Carolina, Lake Norris, Tennessee and in earlier years camping with her siblings and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. Bailey; her parents, and her five siblings (Virgil Holdcraft, Evelyn Fink, Marjorie Luttrell, Kenneth Holdcraft and Richard Holdcraft). She is also survived by a brother, Eugene "Bucky" Holdcraft.
She will be missed by many including her daughters, Karen K. Stainback (Wayne) and Kimberly A. Cable (Brad), her son, Kenton P. Bailey, grandchildren Nicci L. Franklin (Thomas), R.A. Louthen (Breezy), Megan B. Flynn, Emily A. Flynn, and great-granddaughter, Bailey K. Franklin.
A private-family service is being held.
