Louella M. Fontenot, 84, of Moss Bluff passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016. Mrs. Fontenot was born in Basile, LA, and lived the majority of her life in Moss Bluff. She graduated from Sowela Technical School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse most of her adult life, including time in Labor and Delivery at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, followed by 22 years in the medical office of Dr. Ben Guilbeau.
Mrs. Fontenot was devoted to and extremely proud of her two daughters and sons-in-law. She dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her so much joy and happiness.
In her retirement years she loved cooking for her family, RVing with her husband, and playing weekly card games with her lady friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Susan Fontenot Aguillard and husband Tim, and Sharon Fontenot Fields and husband John. Also, six grandchildren including Aaron Michael Fields and wife Rachel, Allison Maria Fields, Alaina Claire Aguillard, Jack Thomas Aguillard, William Tate Aguillard, and Ella Kathryn Aguillard.
Mrs. Fontenot was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Olan Lee Fontenot, her parents Elar and Zelia Fontenot, brother Houston Manuel, nephews Larry Manuel and Gerald Manuel, and great nephew Neal Manuel.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sandra Bruno and her staff for their care, kindness, and friendship, and to the staff of Amedysis Home Health for their excellent care and support.
Mrs. Fontenot’s funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 26, 2016, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff. Burial will follow in Old Richie Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson’s Funeral Home in Moss Bluff on Monday from 10 AM until leaving for service.
