Lena Evangeline Reeves

Lena was born in Moss Bluff and lived there all her life. She was a 1940 graduate of Gillis High School. Lena attended McNeese State University and graduated from Vincent Business College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillis where she played the piano and organ. Lena was also instrumental in organizing the Little People’s Choir which she directed. She was a fabulous cook and she worked as an administrative secretary for many years. She also worked as a Notary. She helped many people get a birth certificate who had no birth record. Lena baked their first birthday cake in celebration of their official birth date.

Lena is survived by her daughters, Carmen Reeves Priola and husband Nickey of Longville and Corliss Reeves Frusha of Gillis; grandchildren, Sunshine Frusha, Gina Frusha, Joshua Priola and wife Melissa, and Seth Priola and wife Marli; great grandchildren, Chase Hinton, Chelsey Hinton, Gracey Hinton, Cade Priola, Cappi Priola, Kayla Mitchell and husband Robert, Peyton Allured, and Layne Priola; and great great grandchild, Elizabeth Ann Mitchell.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. Rev. Glen George will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Reeves Memorial Gardens in Gillis. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 and will resume Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Words of comfort may be expressed with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
