He was born in Oberlin and lived in Moss Bluff since 1966. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church where he had served as Eucharist Minister. He was a talented finish carpenter and built much of the furniture and structures in the original and present church. He worked for Lake Charles Fire Department for 35 years and was a District Chief. He completed his fire department career at Chenault. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and fishing. He was always there to help others fix things and never asked for anything in return. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Fontenot of Moss Bluff; sons, Kevin Fontenot of Beaumont, TX; Christopher Fontenot of Moss Bluff; daughters, Cynthia Jarnagin, of Nederland, TX; Sonya Premeaux of Little Rock, AR; Catrina McGee of Westlake; Brother, Ray Fontenot of Iowa; sister, Darcy Jemison of Kinder; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tanzy and Rose Fontenot; brother, Roger Lee Fontenot; grandsons, Joshua Mark Fontenot and Jonathon Fontenot.
His service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Msg. Charles Dubois will officiate. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff, Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and resume Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
