Steven Patrick McMahan of Montesano, WA passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023 at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, Washington. He was born May 28, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington to Neil McMahan Jr. and Jacqueline (Jacky Lou) McMahan Porreca.
Steve graduated from White Pass High School in Randle Washington in 1972. As a youngster he was afforded the exposure to other cultures by spending a year in Germany with his family and then another year in Richmond Virginia before returning to Washington. Upon returning he finished high school, got his first job at Modern Foods Store in Randle. He left there to work at the Randle Cowlitz Stud Mill and joined up with the Randle Volunteer Fire Department. While with the Fire Department he served as, first a Fire Fighter, then as Fire Chief and later a Fire Commissioner. During this service he was instrumental in developing the first public Ambulance service in East Lewis County, and became an EMT. After leaving Randle he worked for the Boy Scouts of America, then becoming self-employed.
He loved the outdoors and traveling. With a booming voice and big smile he always warmed your heart with his stories and jokes. He was known as a Jack of all Trades and was the first one called by family and friends for help.
Steve was a beloved son, father, papa and brother and enjoyed many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neil McMahan Jr., mother Jacqueline (Jacky Lou) McMahan Porreca, stepfather Thomas J Porreca and his brother Wayne C McMahan.
He leaves behind his son Dustin (Kayela) McMahan, daughter Britney DeAlexandro (Andrew Walczak), grandchildren Ella DeAlexandro, Emmett McMahan and Ethan McMahan, siblings Thomas (Pat) McMahan, Whitney (Willie) McMahan, Wesley McMahan, Mina McMahan Sumers and Jackie Porreca Johnson and stepmother Lila McMahan, As well as many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Steve was the great great grandson of James L Randle for whom Randle bears it’s name.
A funeral service is scheduled at 1:00 PM, February 25, 2023 at Silver Creek Cemetery in Randle, Washington. A celebration of life will follow at the Randle Fire Station.
